What it does

Type the letters you have and the word generator lists every word you can spell with them, using some or all of the letters. It searches a dictionary of about 171,000 English words, puts the longest words at the top and marks the common ones. By default it starts at three letters, so the list isn't cluttered with tiny words.

It's a quick way to see just how much a few letters can do. Six ordinary letters often hide dozens of words, from obvious ones to words you've never seen. Common words are marked, so you can tell them apart.

How to make words from letters

  1. Enter your letters. Up to 15, in any order. Type a letter twice if you have it twice – each letter can be used only as many times as you type it.
  2. Add blanks (optional). Up to three ? blanks stand for any letter. The letters they fill in are highlighted in the results.
  3. Set the minimum length. It starts at 3. Lower it to 2 to include two-letter words, or raise it to see only longer words.
  4. Generate. Every word appears, longest first. Tap a word to copy it, or open the three-dot menu for its definition, syllables, rhymes and anagrams.
