What it does

Each card asks you to choose between two options. There's no right answer – only good reasons. We wrote every question ourselves and sorted them into categories, each with an age rating.

The default list suits kids and teens. Questions for adults are optional, and they're never explicit.

How to use it

  1. Pick categories with the chips at the top, or keep them all on.
  2. Choose an age rating. Kids and teens are on by default. Add adults if you want questions for grown-ups.
  3. Press Next (or the Space bar) for a new question.
  4. Switch views. Show one question at a time for a game, or a list when you want to read several.
  5. Copy a question to paste it into a chat, a slide or a lesson plan.

How to play would you rather

  1. One person reads the question out loud.
  2. Everyone picks one option. No "neither" and no "both".
  3. Explain your choice in a sentence or two.
  4. Pass the phone to the next reader and press Next.

Here's the kind of question you'll find: Would you rather have a pocket that always holds a warm snack, or shoes that never get wet?

For a big group, turn it into a vote. Point left for the first option and right for the second, then let the smaller side make its case. If anyone changes their mind, they switch sides.

How to write your own would you rather questions

After a few rounds, many groups start inventing their own. A good question follows a few simple rules:

  • Make both sides tempting – or both tricky. If one option is clearly better, there's nothing to talk about.
  • Keep it short. One sentence is enough. Long setups lose people.
  • Add a twist. A small catch, like a superpower that only works on Tuesdays, makes everyone think twice.
  • Know your audience. Silly for kids, thoughtful for adults, and kind for everyone.

Tips

  • Always ask why. The reason behind a choice is more interesting than the choice itself.
  • Save the tough ones. Start with easy questions and build up to the hard dilemmas.
  • Make it a vote. Count hands for each option and see if the group splits.
  • Keep it kind. Skip any question that doesn't suit your group – just press Next.
  • More party questions: try never have I ever, truth or dare or the random question generator.
