How to use the Portuguese word generator
- Choose how many words. Pick a small batch for a quick lesson or a long list for a study session.
- Pick a word type if you like – nouns, verbs or adjectives, where the list has them marked.
- Press Generate (or the Space bar) for a new batch. No word repeats within one batch.
- Tap a word to copy it. It also lands in the copy panel, so you can collect several and copy them together.
Each word comes with a short English meaning. For languages that use a different alphabet or writing system, you'll also see the word spelled out in Latin letters to help you read it.
Ways to learn with random Portuguese words
Five words a day
Generate five words each morning and try to use them before bedtime – in a sentence, a message or a note on the fridge.
Flash cards
Copy a batch into your notes, cover the English meanings, and test yourself. Shuffle in a new batch when the old words feel easy.
Story challenge
Pick three random Portuguese words and write a short story in English that includes their meanings. Then try a sentence or two using the Portuguese words themselves.
Good to know
- It's not a translator. The tool picks words at random; it doesn't translate sentences or look up words you type.
- Meanings are short. Many words have more than one meaning – we show a common one to keep things simple.
- Pronunciation varies. Accents and regions differ, so for tricky sounds it's worth listening to a native speaker.
- Want English words instead? The random word generator gives you everyday English words with the same filters.
